My Hope For The New Decade

My hope for the new decade…

For us and those yet to come to look back at now as a time where we began flowing with nature instead of against it.

A time we spent more time looking up at the stars and down at the earth than just looking straight ahead desperate for the next thing, the better thing, the newest thing.

A time where we explored more, adventured more, asked more questions, appreciated the incredibly complex, magnificent planet we have the absolute privilige of calling home. A time where we just marveled at earth's beauty without seeing only dollar signs and developmental prospects.

A time where we ate more food from the land and less processed in factories ruled by greedy corporations. Where we sourced our food more from beautiful local farmers and less from agriculturally-destroyed land growing pesticide-ravaged mono-crop produce.

A time where we spent more time outside in the arms of Mother Nature and less indoors. Where we saw critically endangered species bounce back to enjoy thriving populations more than we saw species disappear into extinction.

A time where we didn't just wait for times of tragedy, trauma and natural disaster to really see the power in community. Where we moved towards the collective and away from the "every man for himself" mentality. A time where we shared and swapped homegrown produce with our friends and our neighbours. Where we exchanged homemade pesto for homemade coffee scrub or offered our skills in exchange for another's.

A time when we abandoned the glorification of busy and embraced the magic of just "being". When we realised that less can be more.

A time when our planet no longer drowned in our rubbish but bloomed and thrived as the lush, vibrant oasis it was intended to be bursting with all the beautiful life.

2020 really HAS to be the start of us all taking better care of our home.

I will continue to try to spark changes in those around me, because our Mother is so worth it x
